Archibald winner on show at QUT Art Museum
William Dobell's 1948 Archibald Prize-winning
portrait of Brisbane artist Margaret Olley features in a
ground-breaking exhibition now open at QUT Art
Museum.
The painting is a feature of the Art Gallery of
New South Wales Collection and it's presence has been
described as a real coup by Breaking New Ground exhibition
curator Stephen Rainbird.
Celebrating the achievements
of six leading Brisbane women artists, the exhibition presents
key works by Margaret Cilento, Pamela Macfarlane, Joy
Roggenkamp, Kathleen Shillam, Betty Quelhurst and Margaret
Olley, as well as Dobell's portrait.
Mr. Rainbird said the exhibition, which has been
eighteen months in the making, also includes several other
related works which will please art lovers.
