Freestyle: 40 top Australia designers
After showing at Melbourne Museum,
Sydney's Object
Gallery and the Art Gallery of South
Australia, Freestyle, a
snapshot of 40 outstanding Australian designers, comes to QUT Art Museum before
embarking on an extensive international tour.
Reflecting the character and maturity of
Australian contemporary design, Freestyle encompasses a wide
range of works from all aspects of design, including textiles,
furniture, lighting and homewares.
One-off or limited edition items by
internationally acclaimed designers like Akira
Isogawa, Crumpler
and Alexander
Lotersztain are showcased alongside industrially
manufactured items and prototypes.
Featured in
Freestyle, cult bag brand Crumpler
(designers Stuart Crumpler, Dave Roper and Will Miller
pictured) was established in Melbourne in 1995 and is known
around the globe for it's practical, expressive and quirky
bags.
Brisbane fashion designers Pamela Easton and
Lydia Pearson (Easton Pearson) have 12 collection items on
show.
