The Messiah rises again, at Gardens Theatre
What do three Matilda Awards, two newlyweds
and one riotous send up have in common? The
Messiah! Starring Brisbane's own Hayden Spencer, Carita
Farrer and Jean-Marc Russ (pictured from right), The Messiah
opens at Gardens
Theatre next week (Thurs 3 May).
Newlyweds Spencer and Farrer took the
matrimonial plunge late last year before embarking on The
Messiah's 2007 national tour with their one-year-old son
Moe in tow.
Each of the three actors play a myriad of
roles; from Mary and Joseph, King Herod, the Archangel Gabriel
via Balthasar to God Himself.
Spencer says The Messiah
is refreshing because it doesn’t take itself too
seriously.
“It’s unique because not only is it
irreverent and silly, it’s also damn funny,” he
said.
