The shape of things to come in art and design
At first glance, the delicately printed fabric
seems innocuous enough, but look closer and it's actually an
x-ray of human pelvis.
Hannah Gartside's 'Hands On' collection is one
of a diverse range of works scrutinising the human form in Body+:
The shape of things to come 08, opening at The Block
(Creative Industries Precinct ) on Tuesday 26
February.
Body+ brings together an eclectic mix of the
best of Brisbane's emerging designers and artists in the
second annual 'shape of things' exhibition.
Works are drawn from the cream of the 2007
graduates of QUT's Creative
Industries and Built
Environment and Engineering faculties, with everything
from fashion and animation to architecture and industrial
design on display.
Join us on opening night from 6pm on 26
February at The Block, or find out more at www.ciprecinct.qut.com

Opens 28 Feb Tickets from $25
It’s 1942 and, in the small town of
Kalbarri in Western Australia, there’s a little boy with
a lot on his mind. John’s asthma is making him a target
at school, his mum is having it off with the Japanese
doctor and his only friend is an Aboriginal girl called
Albert.
But all these problems pale into
insignificance when, on his tenth birthday, John
receives a disturbing phone call from the President of
the United States! With his ragtag army of misfits, he
sets about saving Kalbarri from destruction. A playful
